Our Dementia Navigation Consultations are designed specifically for family members or care partners of a loved one living with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), dementia, Alzheimer's, frontotemporal dementia, Lewy Body Dementia, Vascular Dementia, Parkinson's Disease and general aging.

We have partnered with countless families who were told "see you back in 6 - 12 months" by their neurologist and left to navigate the day to day alone. The memory compass is here to decrease hours of research, reduce stress, and provide compassionate guidance and support individualized to your unique needs.

Working with your own Dementia Navigation consultant specializing in dementia & Alzheimer's care will provide the exact expert support you need!

Our clients have 1:1 access to their own dementia navigator! Your consultant is a care specialist, certified dementia practitioner, and has a background as a speech-language pathologist with a master's degree in communication sciences and disorders evaluating and treating individuals living with neurodegenerative diseases. We are here to guide you as you navigate through life changes, we will help you implement effective care practices, and address the quality of life for all involved.

Our Memory Loss Navigation services complements the care your loved one may be receiving from healthcare providers. At The Memory Compass, we take a holistic approach while also taking time getting to know you and your unique needs on your care partner journey. We excel in developing your own individualized DEMENTIA NAVIGATION ACTION PLAN! We are here for you whether your loved one has been recently diagnosed or is in the later stages of their disease progression.

Attend Your 60-Minute Initial Memory Dementia Navigation Consultation

Prior to your consultation you will complete our new client intake form that your consultant will review prior to the session. This helps ensure that you are getting the most value out of our hour together and that your initial consultation is individualized to your unique needs. Your initial 60 minute consultation will be held either virtually or by phone. During the session you and your consultant will strategize concerns. Following you will receive your own individualized DEMENTIA NAVIGATION ACTION PLAN!

Have Access to Your Own Dementia Consultant When You Need It 

Our service offerings are not one size fits all. A major goal of The Memory Compass is to support families in order to avoid crisis, burnout, and reduce overwhelm. Several of the families we work with have had us part of their dementia care team for years. For continued support and individualized guidance continued sessions are offered on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, or as needed basis. We will work together to create an individualized on-going plan of support to fit your unique needs.

Common Dementia Navigation Consultation Sessions Focus on:

Education and Strategies to Equip You in How to Best Support You and Your Loved One

  • Educating families about the disease, different stages within the disease, and how to identify stages

    • What does "early, middle, late" or "mild, moderate, and severe" really mean for my loved one? ​

  • "Our neurologist told us they would see us back in 6 months. We need a manual for this." 

    • We will equip you with your own roadmap with a DEMENTIA NAVIGATION ACTION PLAN!

  • In-home safety assessments & recommendations to set up the environment for independence 

  • Learning how to provide continued meaningful & purposeful activities to promote joy and cognitive-stimulation

  • Education topics may include but are not limited to: change in behaviors/emotions, safety with medications, safety with finances, resistance to bathing/dressing, decline in hygiene, decline in home management, safety concerns with driving, weight loss or appetite changes, how to know when increased care is recommended 

Comprehensive Support for Families and Care Partners

  • Supporting family members and care partners during times of decision and planning. We understand that family dynamics can make this already difficult time even more challenging. We are well versed in handling those situations and how to best come up with solutions together. 

  • Connections with other professionals in your area to further strengthen your dementia care team

  • Understanding how to improve or maintain your own health and quality of life while caring for a loved one
